HELP SUDAN

As the holidays approach and the world prepares for a season of togetherness, today at PixelUnion we make a deliberate choice. Starting Sunday 24 November and running through Christmas Day, we are putting our technology to work for a goal bigger than ourselves.
Today we launch our emergency relief campaign: 20% of all our revenue goes directly to humanitarian aid in Sudan via the Netherlands Red Cross.
We’d like to explain why we are doing this—and why the link between our software and the situation in Sudan makes more sense than you might first think.
A story of two kinds of safety
PixelUnion was founded to help people enjoy digital freedom. Every day we fight for your digital safety. We build digital walls around your most precious memories. We keep your data in Europe—on servers in Germany and Finland—far from the grasp of American tech giants. We believe privacy must not be a luxury feature, but a basic right.
Yet while we (rightly) worry here in Europe about privacy intrusion and surveillance, elsewhere a crisis unfolds where safety has a different, raw meaning.
In Sudan it’s not about protecting data; it’s about protecting life itself. It’s about physical safety: the right not to be shot, the right to clean drinking water, the right to medical care.
Why Sudan? The forgotten crisis
Right now a humanitarian catastrophe of unprecedented scale is unfolding in Sudan. While the cameras of the world often focus on other conflicts, the situation in Sudan cries out for our attention.
- The largest displacement crisis in the world: Since the escalation of conflict in April 2023, more than 12 million people have fled. One in five Sudanese has had to leave home.
- Widespread destruction: Cities are in ruins and hospitals have been bombed. The recent fall of El Fasher has deepened the emergency further.
- The most vulnerable are suffering: More than 15 million children are directly affected. Hundreds of thousands risk dying from acute malnutrition. Women and girls are, tragically, targeted for violence.
The contrast could hardly be greater: here we build safe havens for photos; there, no safe havens remain for people.
Your choice as a bridge
We believe we can use our privileged position to build a bridge between these two worlds. Your choice for digital safety can directly contribute to their physical safety.
When you choose PixelUnion between 24 November and 25 December—whether a new subscription, an upgrade to more storage, or a switch to an annual plan—we donate 20% of that amount to the Red Cross.
Why the Red Cross? Because—like us—they believe in neutrality. They help everyone, regardless of political side, and have local roots to be present in conflict zones.
What your subscription does in concrete terms
Your contribution is converted by the Red Cross into life‑saving resources:
- Medical care: Basic treatments and emergency aid for war victims in a country whose health system has collapsed.
- Clean water: Essential to curb deadly disease outbreaks like cholera.
- Food: Emergency packages for families facing extreme hunger.
Join in: Choose safety in the broadest sense
We invite you to reflect over these weeks on what safety means. Choose the safety of your memories with a reliable European platform. And know that with that choice you directly contribute to the safety of people who need it most right now.
- Start today: Create an account (start free with 16 GB).
- Upgrade: Choose 150 GB (€2.95/mo) or 1 TB (€9,95/mo).
- Impact: 20% of your purchase amount goes to Sudan.
Let’s prove together that technology can not only protect data—but can help save lives.
On behalf of the entire PixelUnion team,
Thank you for your support.
