PixelUnion donates 20% to aid in Sudan (Nov 24 – Dec 25)

From November 24 to December 25, We will donate 20% of all revenue to humanitarian aid in Sudan via the Netherlands Red Cross. This means: every new subscription, every upgrade, and every switch to an annual plan during this period makes a direct difference on the front lines of a forgotten crisis.
Why are we doing this? PixelUnion stands for secure, European storage without data sales or dependence on US cloud platforms. But protection goes beyond data. This holiday season, we’re connecting our core—privacy and security—to concrete assistance for people who need safety the most right now. Below you’ll find why the need is so great and how your choice helps.
Why Sudan?
While the world looks to other problems, Sudan is facing a humanitarian catastrophe of unprecedented scale. On April 15, 2023, violence escalated between the national army (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Cities have been reduced to rubble, and the fall of El Fasher at the end of October 2025 to the RSF has further deepened the country’s de facto partition.
Sudan now faces the world’s largest displacement crisis. As of October 2025, there were 9.58 million internally displaced persons (IDPs), 7.26 million of whom since April 2023. In total, around 14.5 million people have been displaced (IDPs plus refugees to neighboring countries)—more than half of them are children.
Basic services have collapsed. More than 24.6 million people are in acute food insecurity; in September 2025, around 21.2 million people faced severe food shortages. In the Zamzam camp near Al Fasher (North Darfur), famine (IPC Phase 5) has been confirmed and is ongoing. At the same time, about 70% of health facilities are non‑operational, leading to rapid disease spread: by April 2025 nearly 60,000 cholera cases and over 1,640 deaths were reported. Approximately 3.4 million children under five are at additional risk due to disruption of routine immunization.
The toll on children is immense: more than 15.6 million are directly affected, and around 770,000 are at immediate risk of severe acute malnutrition.
Behind these figures are families fighting violence, hunger, and disease. Medical care, clean drinking water, food assistance, and mental health support are urgently needed.
The bridge between your choice and their chances
When you choose PixelUnion during the campaign period (new subscription, upgrade, or switch to annual), 20% of that amount goes to emergency relief via the Red Cross. The Red Cross is neutral, impartial, and present with local volunteers—exactly what’s needed in complex conflict settings.
Your choice helps with:
- Medical care and first aid: bandages, basic treatments, triage, and emergency transport.
- Water and hygiene: facilities to combat cholera and other waterborne diseases.
- Food assistance: emergency packages for families in acute hunger.
