Immich v1.142.0: Timeline Becomes Default, Geolocation Upgrades, and More!

We’re excited to announce the release of Immich v1.142.0, packed with features and improvements that make managing your photo library smoother and more powerful than ever. Here’s what’s new:

Beta Timeline Is Now Default

Starting with v1.142.0, the beta timeline becomes the default experience in Immich. On your first launch after updating, the app will migrate your data to the new timeline. This upgrade brings a more intuitive, faster, and visually appealing way to browse your memories. Thanks to everyone who tested and provided feedback!

Use case: Quickly scroll through years of photos, find events, and relive memories with a streamlined interface.

Resume All Paused Jobs

Admins can now resume all paused jobs with a single click. This is especially useful for users importing large libraries (e.g., via immich-go), where background jobs may be paused and forgotten. If you’ve noticed issues like trash not clearing or memories not generating, this feature is for you.

Example: After a failed import, simply hit “Resume All” to get your background tasks running again—no need to restart containers or dig into Redis.

Geolocation Utility Timeline View

The geolocation utility now features a timeline view, making it easier to investigate and fill in missing coordinates for your assets. You can scroll through your entire library and update locations seamlessly.

Benefit: Organize and enrich your photo collection with accurate location data, improving search and discovery.

Mobile App: Read-Only Mode Toggle

The read-only mode toggle on mobile has changed from double-tap to long-press, making it more reliable and user-friendly.

Notable Fixes

  • Raspberry Pi 4: Fixed crashes when generating thumbnails. If you previously set VIPS_NOVECTOR=1, you can now remove this variable.
  • Numerous bug fixes for server, web, and mobile apps, including improved backup validation, upload handling, and accessibility improvements.

Community Contributions

A big thank you to all contributors, especially new faces joining this release. Your work helps Immich grow and improve for everyone.
