Immich v2.7.5: Stability Improvements and Deduplication Enhancements

We are rolling out Immich v2.7.5 to all PixelUnion users today. This release focuses on stability, enhanced deduplication features, and improvements to the underlying infrastructure. Below is a detailed look at what’s new.

Smarter Deduplication

The duplicate detection and resolution system continues to get smarter. In previous releases, the deduplication feature required manual decisions about which photo to keep. Now, the system automatically analyzes image size and EXIF metadata to suggest which asset should be retained—saving you time and reducing the need for manual intervention.

Beyond smart suggestions, the deduplication process now automatically synchronizes critical metadata between the duplicate assets before merging. This means:

  • Album associations are preserved
  • Favorite status is retained
  • Ratings and descriptions carry over
  • Visibility and location tags are maintained

This ensures that important information about your photos isn’t lost when duplicates are cleaned up.

Quality of Life Fixes

This release includes several important bug fixes and improvements:

  • Mobile image loading - fixes to image rendering on the iOS app for better clarity
  • Filename handling - original filenames are now hidden when metadata display is disabled
  • Cache optimization - improved thumbnail cache management on mobile
